Robotic Milking Parlour Trials
Nutribio are always interested in keeping in touch with what is happening on farm with our customers and identifying ways that we can produce products that will help our customers to get the best return on investment. An example of this is the below trial.
“There is a drop in milk protein in the early lactation period, particularly as the cows head toward peak lactation. This can cause financial loss for both the farmer and the processor alike.
Nutribio is conducting a study in Cork, which is investigating several products which aim to maintain milk protein percentage, or improve it during this time. The basal feed is grass.
In this case, the study is taking place on a farm with 3 Lely Astronaut Robots, which provide access to daily reports of milk production, milk constituents and other parameters such as SCC levels. This has allowed detailed monitoring of the cows throughout the study.
Lely shuttles were also used for detailed milk sampling/recording.
These samples are going to be analysed in Teagasc Moorepark Food Research Centre for details milk protein components, such as casein and whey content.”
